Diffusion of Irrigation and Crop Technologies in Howrah District

Spinach grown under Protected Cultivation Technology with Sprinkler Irrigation System

Mr. Sahadeb Das, member of Dhurkhali Sprinklers Water User’s Association in AMTA-1 block of Howrah district cultivated Spinach in 14.85 decimal (9 Katha) area of land. After three month from plantation he started to harvest Spinach with regular interval of three days. His net income was about INR 83000/- by selling Spinach in the market and also selling seedlings of Spinach. All types of technological supports and seeds for this crop were organized by the DPMU, Howrah. Following table shows cost and return

Profitable Cucumber Cultivation:

Mr. Shyamsundar Dey, member of Balichak-Thakuranichak Sprinklers Water User’s Association in AMTA-1 block of Howrah district cultivated Cucumber in  20 decimal (12 Katha)  area of land. After three month from plantation he started to harvest Cucumber with regular interval of three days. His net income was about INR 41000/- by selling Cucumber in the market. All types of technological supports and seeds for this crop were organized by the DPMU, Howrah.
